This piece is a modern take on a Siren mermaid.
Sirens are evil mermaids; this is my personal vision of the mermaid-like-femme fatale (half-fish/half-woman).
The story of Swim Fan is about a woman who hides her jealousy with seduction and beauty. She mystifies and allures her many lovers with delicate skin that glistens in the light. Her intentions are pure - often. Yet, the darker side to her, masked by beauty, will continually dilute her actions in her ongoing search of contentment.

iridescent paint is used through (please note the subtle gold shadings from certain angles/lighting)
cow rawhide canvas (repurposed)
varnished with a transparent, glossy, protective finish
